Project Summary
After Hurricane Ida caused widespread damage in the State of Louisiana on August 30, 2021, the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) contracted SLS to assist APTIM, the Program Manager, to provide temporary housing for residents displaced by the storm in the state’s most heavily impacted parishes.
SLS completed a total of 1,006 work orders for the Haul and Install mission, managing the transportation, installation, and deactivation of recreational vehicles, in collaboration with utility providers, local code inspectors, and subcontractors.
A subsequent PO added the blocking and strapping of trailers to further secure them due to concerns about high winds and severe weather. For this process, the SLS team was required to set the trailers on blocks and anchor them to the ground with straps.
When residents were able to move back into their permanent homes, the SLS team processed demobilization (or deactivation) work orders to remove blocking and strapping, disconnect RV units from utilities, and return them to a GOHSEP staging yard.
SLS also was awarded an additional emergency procurement contract to provide 33 travel trailers for the recovery effort.
