BROOKLYN CRUISE TERMINAL
In March 2020, in response to New York’s COVID-19 crisis, NYC OEM and Health & Hospitals engaged SLS to provide emergency medical care facilities and services to critical and non-critical hospital overflow patients in Brooklyn and the surrounding area.
SLS immediately mobilized and converted the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook into a full-service field hospital, complete with intensive care units and a dedicated oxygen system with direct lines to every bed. SLS completed the construction in under 21 days and managed the operations for the facility, which included the provision of comprehensive “wrap” services in a safe, secure and clean environment. Multiple subcontractors and vendors, as well as hundreds of personnel were engaged on the project in a highly compressed construction time frame, with a roster of highly qualified medical professionals and vendors utilized for facility operations.
Services included Site Work, Sheltering, MEP Installation, Medical and Operation Staff, Triage & Intensive Care, Air Filtration/Oxygen Systems, Food/Nutrition, Ancillary Services, Furniture/Fixtures, and Logistical Support.
