Stone Village Multi-Family

 
 

In 2015, the San Benito Housing Authority initiated the construction of Stone Village, which is a  public-housing development project spurred by damage caused from Hurricane Dolly several years earlier.  San Benito’s housing supply was severely damaged by Dolly, and many of the low-income residents in the  area were displaced from the damage caused to both the private and public housing stock. Recognizing the  need for viable housing, SBHA, working with the Texas General Land Office, obtained available HUD  CDBG-DR funding and embarked on the first new public housing project in San Benito in several decades,  with the goal of providing safe and attractive housing for residents.

SLS was engaged as the general contractor for the project, which consists of 24 buildings and 50 units  designed to accommodate all ages and family types, as well as a community center, parks and open  spaces. In this role, SLS ensured the design and construction of the community was aligned with the  mission of SBHA to provide San Benito residents with reliable and attractive public housing, while keeping a  close eye on budgets, meeting strict production schedules and providing a safe and quality-driven product.
