Project Summary

In summer 2017, Hurricane Harvey caused extensive flooding and damage in Texas, particularly in the greater Houston area, where thousands of homes were made uninhabitable due to flooding and related structural, electrical, and plumbing issues.

FEMA and the Texas GLO responded by launching the PREPS program to provide essential STEP repairs to eligible homes, enabling residents to return quickly. The program's focus was on making kitchens and bathrooms functional, with a cost cap of $20,000 per home, aiming for temporary sheltering until permanent repairs could occur.

SLS was tasked with executing this program across various Texas counties, involving tasks like inspections, scope development, scheduling, homeowner management, material procurement, subcontractor oversight, final inspections, and warranty services. The entire program was completed within six months, averaging around 60 homes repaired each week.
