COVID-19 Response: Conversion of USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center into Emergency Field Hospital
Project Summary
In March 2020, in response to COVID-19, NYC OEM and Health & Hospitals engaged SLS to provide immediate emergency medical care facilities and services to hospital overflow patients within Queens and the surrounding area.
Within 48 hours of mobilization, the SLS team began converting the BJK Tennis Center into a full-service field hospital, complete with intensive care and an oxygen system with direct lines to every bed.
