COVID-19 Response: Conversion of Brooklyn Cruise Terminal Facility into Emergency Field Hospital
Project Summary
In March 2020, in response to New York’s COVID-19 crisis, NYC OEM and Health & Hospitals engaged SLS to provide emergency medical facilities and supplies to hospital overflow patients in Brooklyn and the surrounding area.
SLS immediately mobilized and converted the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook into a full-service field hospital, complete with intensive care units and a dedicated oxygen system with direct lines to every bed. Full construction was complete in under 21 days.
