Project Summary

In the late 2000’s, the Galveston Housing Authority instituted an aggressive public-housing redevelopment program throughout the city focused on updating and reconstructing several prime public housing locations that were severely damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Ike several years earlier.

 SLS executed the vertical aspect of the project, with the additional scope of installing underground utilities and a new road system in the manner of the traditional Galveston street grid layout. With the help of MBS, the Cedars were redeveloped into a 28 building mixed-income housing for both existing residents, and students at Texas A&M Galveston.
