Project Summary

SLS was contracted by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for an emergency construction project under an Undefinitized Contract Action (UCA), with an expedited timeline. The project involved a design-build approach, starting with minimal preliminary design information, essentially just a location on a map. SLS conducted various surveys and managed the design process, breaking it into discrete packages to expedite key work and address complex construction features, including drainage, with input from multiple stakeholders.

The project's overall scope included constructing 46 miles of border fencing, patrol and maintenance roads, water crossings, gates, electrical distribution, stadium-style lighting, a fiber optic intrusion detection system, and a remotely monitored security camera video surveillance system.
