Project Summary
In September 2018, Columbia Gas of Massachusetts experienced major damage to supply lines and homes throughout the area, as a result of their gas distribution system over-pressurizing during repairs. Hundreds of residents were displaced while Columbia Gas performed extensive emergency inspections and repairs.
MEMA and Columbia Gas engaged the SLS team to set up a shelter and warming center to care for residents who were forced out of their homes. Within days of activation, SLS transformed an existing warehouse into a 1,000+ bed shelter with the proper amenities to care for and shelter occupants.
