Project Summary

Winter Storm Uri was a severe weather event of February 2021 turned catastrophic as power blackouts spanned most of the state for an extended period of time. Sixty-nine percent of Texans lost power at some point, and forty-nine percent had disruptions in water service.

SLS was engaged by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services to immediately begin massive response efforts by supplying and delivering  760 pallets (38 Truckloads) of water to Dallas, Bastrop, Corpus Christi  and Houston.

Galveston County engaged SLS to supply potable water for County Jail. In order to accomplish this, SLS offloaded pallets of water from military aircraft one C130, three C17, one Chinook, two Black Hawks. For the City of Galveston, SLS set up two water distribution sites on Broadway and at the airport.
